PzCC Club Membership Details

Membership of Penzance Canoe Club is open to anyone, there are no minimum paddle ability restrictions. There are some age conditions and those are explained below. Details of membership types, cost and how to join are also included. Contact our Club Secretary to join the club or arrange a beginners course.

Membership Types

Senior: Cost £53.00 for the season for Non-BCU members or £50.00 for BCU members

Senior membership is for anyone aged over 18 years. If you have paddle experience then you can arrange to visit the club for a visitor taster session. The visitor session allows you to use the club equipment and paddle with the club on a Friday night session at the clubhouse or the pool sessions in winter. You can attend three such sessions, the cost is £5.00 per person, after which you must join the club if you wish to continue paddling with us.

If you have no paddle experience then you can attend one of our Beginners Courses. The course is at least four sessions of 2 to 3 hours each session. The cost for a Senior Beginners Course is £60.00 after which you will be able to join the club and partake in all club activities. You will also be offered a limited time 50% discount on the senior membership fee. (Limited time offer 2 weeks after course completion).

Junior: Cost £28.00 for the season for Non-BCU members or £25.00 for BCU members.

Junior membership is for anyone aged 11 years to 18 years. If you have paddle experience then you can arrange to visit the club for a visitor taster session. A junior paddler must have a Parental Consent Form signed before they can attend any sessions with the club. This visitor session allows you to use the club equipment and paddle with the club on a Friday night session at the clubhouse or the pool sessions in winter. You can attend three such sessions, the cost is £5.00 per person, after which you must join the club if you wish to continue paddling with us.

If you have no paddle experience then you can attend one of our Beginners Courses. The course is at least four sessions of 2 to 3 hours each session. The cost for a Junior Beginners Course is £40.00 after which you will able to join the club and partake in all club activities. You will also be offered a limited time 50% discount on the junior membership fee. (Limited time offer 2 weeks after course completion).


Minor: Cost £28.00 for the season, for Non-BCU members or £25.00 for BCU members

Minor membership is for anyone aged under 11 years. If you have paddle experience then you can arrange to visit the club for a Visitor taster session. The minor must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian at all times when attending club events. The Parent or Guardian must also be a competent paddler. By competent, we mean BCU 2 Star assessed or equivalent ability.

A minor paddler must have a Parental Consent Form signed before they can attend any sessions with the club. The Visitor session allows you to use the club equipment and paddle with the club on a Friday night session at the clubhouse or the pool sessions in winter. You can attend three such sessions, the cost is £5.00 per person, after which you must join the club if you wish to continue paddling with us.

If you have no paddle experience then you can not attend one of our Beginners Courses. Minors are trained on club nights at a much slower pace defined by the minor. The course is as many sessions as it takes for the minor to reach the desired standard. The cost for a Minor Beginners Course is £40.00, minors must be a club member in order to take part in the Minors Beginners Course and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Family: Cost £100.00 for the season plus £3.00 each per Non-BCU member.

Family Membership is for at least one Adult and One Child living at the same address. If you have paddle experience then you can arrange to visit the club for a visitor taster session. This session allows you to use the club equipment and paddle with the club on a Friday night session at the clubhouse or the pool sessions in winter. You can attend three such sessions, the cost is £5.00 per person, after which you must join the club if you wish to continue paddling with us.

If you have no paddle experience then you can attend one of our Beginners Courses. The course is at least four sessions of 2 to 3 hours each session. There is no discount for the beginners course. The cost for a Senior Beginners Course is £60.00 and The cost for a Junior Beginners Course is £40.00  after which you will be assessed as a BCU 1 Star paddler.

Non British Canoe Union (BCU) members must pay an additional £3.00 to membership fee, per person, to cover BCU capitation fees.
