Training and Development

Training, Support and Coaching

PzCC offers informal support and coaching for members, and provides the British Canoeing Awarding Body (BCAB) Paddle Awards for those getting into a boat for the first time and starting their paddling journey, enabling them to feel confident in their chosen craft in a sheltered water environment.

We tailor our training and development programme based on our members' interests - whether that's safety and rescues, learning about tidal planning and navigation or developing personal paddling skills and undertaking discipline specific awards. Each season we aim to organise several courses using local BCAB national delivery centre providers.

PzCC is invested in developing the capabilities of our volunteer leaders and supporting new leaders to gain the competencies and qualifications needed for the Club to continue to provide a range of fun and safe activities for our members. Our 2025 leadership programme was funded in part by a Paddle UK Coaching and Leadership Bursary to help develop leadership in Paddle UK affiliated clubs, as part of the New Standards for Deployment.

We are happy to discuss individual personal and leadership development opportunities and encourage members to speak to our team so that we can support our members to achieve their paddling aims. We also canvass our members to provide input for our on-going training and development programme.
